Hi, quick question, your feeds, any of them have 320px wide video?
Posted by: AR | December 05, 2008 at 09:15 PM
I don't think so, AR - not since iPods were able to handle 640x480.
Thanks for watching,
Jeff

@AR
I was thinking about doing a 320, is it for your phone? There are so many different codecs in the mobile world but I wouldn't mind trying one out, a generic 3gpp and see how it goes. Any thoughts out there as to who would watch on their phones?

The rumor has been around for a while but Amber really looks pregnant in this episode. (If she is not, I'm sorry and am not calling her fat - the camera adds 10 pounds as the say).She should either confirm or deny the rumors.

Just a comment out of the blue.....not trying to imply anything.....but if someone happened to be pregnant.....not that anyone is....Darryl is a great name for a little baby boy....or Worf, ya, Worf is a good name too.

Why does she need to confirm or deny anything?!
Although Elvis...if you really are out there and reading this, please let us know!

PS, great show again guys. Just ordered a t-shirt, but looks like it may not get to NZ until the New Year.
Jeff, I'm sensing a theme in your decor ;-)

Is the AppleTV a viable or reasonable product in Canada? So much of what is available from the iTunes store is only available from within the continental US that it is pathetic. It is not enough to be able to use/simulate a US IP address, but one also requires a US based credit card to create the account and then use that card or purchase US store cards to purchase items -- not available to everyone.
I like much of what I see on the Canadian iTunes store, but there is just not enough content! Thus I wonder if the AppleTV is really worth it, since it cannot be used as a PVR.

KEN: I think the Apple TV is viable if you consume a lot of podcast and YouTube content, and the Photo capabilities are good for everyone. Also great if, like us, you need to have someplace to store all your video projects. However, in terms of renting, you should look at trying to fake a US account - all it takes is a US credit card or US iTunes Store certificate (do some Google searching - you'll find a way to get them) - that brings it from a "maybe" to a "for sure" recommendation for me. Canadian TV content is growing but it's the rentals that are the major determinant, as far as I'm concerned.
Finally, I wouldn't buy anything like the Apple TV until after the January Macworld - just in case :-) .
PS: I don't think the Apple TV will ever be a PVR, despite many, many people's desires. :-)

@Chris D
Yes, for my phone, a Nokia N82. Most Nseries (if not all) have a built-in podcasting app which downloads episodes directly to the phone. It's a great time saver because I'll always have something to watch/listen at those times when I'm waiting in line, stuck in traffic, etc.
I suspect I'm in the minority here. How about an MP3 feed instead?

Who messed with your encoding??
DivX feeds have had bad encoding with some lame codec showing unknown audio format since October

@Robert - we'll check into this. THX for the feedback!

Hey Guys,
Just got done watching your show. Holy Cow, how cool, you were in New Smyrna Beach! I live right down the street from where you guys were filming on Flagler Ave.
I hope you had a good time in NSB and had a burger at Breakers while you were here. I really wish I would have run into you guys while you were filming.
Amber, I am a huge fan of all your podcasts and have watched you and Leo for a long time since back in your TechTV days. If you guys are ever in NSB again drop me a line and maybe the biggest geek in NSB can take you all out for dinner :)
Stay warm,
Jason
