Hey guys, just caught the show (have given up on waiting for iTunes to play catch up).
I really don't know what's going on with ISPs at the moment. Interesting to see the traffic shaping brouhaha over there. Don't know if you've seen anything (maybe on the BBC) about the whole Phorm advertising "spying" thing going on over here in the UK. Wondered if you have any thoughts on this?

Cabin fever, Goth background, but still you both bring a personal light to the show. Leo was in the dark streaming his show from Tasmania this morning. Is it symbolic of the end of winter, or the lower carbon footprint of podcasters, or just a plain lack of lighting? @stevegarfield was blinding his subjects this morning in Boston with his klieg lights. Fresh air next week, please, please.

@Amber You have the same old style phone ringer that I use, just that I tend not to phone my phone across the room every time it rings, you do know that you can turn phones off, or set them to silent?
@Jeff, cool mains outlet expander, it's good to see that manufacturers of those type of expanders have finally worked out that not all adapter plugs/power plugs will fit side by side in standard expanders.
Oh by the way the link isn't working to Monster, it has commandn.typepad.com/commandn/2008/04/ added to the start of the url.
@Will You looked very professional at that conference www.flickr.com/photos/photojunkie/2367194550/in/pool-694744@N21/
and great link for the Radiothon
Nice extra footage at the end, which also explains why Sgtrel posted the same comment 3 times, Brian needed some comments to scroll though. It was good to see additional content at the end though.
Plus another nice subtle plug for the newly redesigned AmberMac.com

@Sgtret | April 06, 2008 at 06:03 PM "lower carbon footprint of podcasters" Thats funny, although podcaster's in general have a nice low carbon footprint, but it's not really something that either Leo or Amber are anywhere close to having, as both fly all over the USA and Canada, and at the moment both have just spent 20+ hours flying down to Australia, but at least Leo's there for about 2 weeks, poor Amber is only there for 4 days before flying home again. I think between them they would have to own a good sized forest to offset all their carbon outputs.
As for Leo being in low light, it was 4am there, and not many radio stations have lighting rigs in they studios. Plus if Leo had turned any more lights on we wouldn't have been able to read the stations logo on the wall behind Leo, the station has to get something out of letting Leo use they studio.
And yes I agree, Amber and Will need to get cold, sorry get some fresh air next week, this is the third week in a row they have said they will film outdoors the following week, but they haven't. We can't have them going soft on us.

Great job as usual. Nice summary of the Bell debacle. I'll agree about the ending footage - it was a nice touch. :)

@Brian, Sorry but why is Blip.TV not showing a picture of Amber and Will for this episode? I do like black, but would prefer to see a prettier picture of Amber and Will. Just wondering, Thanks

@SteveintheUK - Monster link is fixed. As for blip not displaying the thumbnail - I have no clue. Last week it took a day before it appeared on the site.
@Nev - feeds are being updated now. Just not enough time in the day to do it all.
-Brian

Hey guys! Great show! Amber, hope you have a blast in Australia (I believe I read that's where you're headed on your blog).
Will - great job as always!! Keep up the great work guys!!

Why is Amber's microphone volume always so low? It's hard to hear what she is saying.

Great content on this episode, but it was really let down by the bad sound recording. Sorry guys, but problems like that make it very hard to watch the show. Level meters are your friends :)

@Brian - sorry, didn't mean to sound so impatient there! It's just that iTunes was taking days to pick the new episodes over the past few weeks and I was missing the comment parties! RSS to the rescue!

@Xpr - Not sure what's up with the audio, but it could be the mic I'm using. We'll look into and thx for your patience.
@Steve - we can pre-select a thumbnail in Blip, which we've been doing these past few eps...Bri is right on, for some reason Blip stopped pre-selecting so we have to go in to do it.

@Amber - I really haven't noticed the difference in audio between you and Will until someone comments about it. One thing I did notice was that your mic is on the opposite lapel that you're normally speaking toward. You're generally turning towards Will, who is on your left, but your mic is on your right, while Will's mic is on his right, which is the direction that you're usually in.
Just try switching the sides of your microphone to see if that helps.

Good show as usual. The traffic shaping thing has really been grating on my nerves lately. I just switched from Shaw (I always call them Rogers - guess that's what growing up in Ontario does to you) to Novus. They're a Vancouver-based cable company that also offers net via fibre-optics to newer buildings downtown.
So far, I haven't noticed any shaping, but I'm keeping my eye on it. Once nice thing is that the connection speeds are symmetric. On the cheap plan, I get 10 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up.

@Will - Regarding the MyGads suggestion...was that for girlfriend's or girlfriends' favorite things? ;)
Posted by: Mike P. | April 08, 2008 at 09:18 PM
And you are our favourite girl...
Regards from Sweden.

MIKE K: Fiber in Van - that's great - symmetrical connection speeds are awesome too.
