Bloody hell, food poisoning Will? Hope it's not serious! Get well soon!
Great job by Rahaf, very nice rapport between our two hosts this week.
To be honest though, considering you guys were at a Little Geeks event I was waiting to see some interaction between Amber and Andy. I mean, a punch in the arm, or some jello in the hair, for old time's sake! ;)

No jello-gate :)!

@Will, Hope you get over your food poisoning soon, one day your learn not to eat Amber's cooking, I really hope Amber doesn't read this so please don't tell her I said that Will. Hope you didn't look as ill as Steve Jobs? Take care and try not to pass in on to Beta.
@Rahaf, Great first time co-hosting, and interesting link, it's great that they give you the option to pay $25 for a months access when your trying to learn a new program and not get stuck paying for a years subscription when you only need access for a couple of weeks to learn a program. They have Final Cut Studio 2 training videos so may give them a go to catch up on my video editing skills. and I know that sounds like a plug but I don't work for them, the last FCP training course I did was £450 for ONE days training so $25(appox £13) for a whole month is well worth the cost.
@Jeff, I only have one wireless laptop connected to my home network but have just changed the encryption from 128 bit WEP to WPA2, network is about 4% to 7% slower to first connect but seems only 2% or 3% slower for files transfers, so thanks for that info, don't know why I thought 128 bit was better than WPA2.
@Amber, Great to see you supporting Andy Walker at his Little Geek computer give away, hope he is able to do lots more of those events over the coming years, just one question though, all the kids in the video seemed to be boys, so I was just wondering how many computers went to girls? or are most girls just not interested in computers at that age? And good point from Liam K, how comes Andy wasn't on camera? Oh, and sorry about the comment to Will if you saw it, if you haven't, then just skip over it, there's nothing interesting for you to see there. L&L

Downloaded the H.264 and watched on the VLC with WinAmp skin. What a difference watching the episode squint free.
Thank you for introducing the Foush! Just what I needed, something else to keep me awake instead of beauty-sleeping.
One question re: Little Geeks, will they get online access along with the computers? How WiFi Friendly is Toronto? I am sure less so if they're watching Jeff's portion of the show.
The two of you presented well together. There wasn't an awkward moment, at least none shown in the final product. You are obvious friends.
Have you thought about streaming the taping live, a la Cali Lewis or Leo? Leo has over 3000 people watching him move camera's around and powder his nose with doughnut sugar.
It just gets better. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the well wishes folks, I'm back to good health now :)

But what about Beta?! Won't somebody please think of Beta?!?!?!
Posted by: OnePiece | June 17, 2008 at 07:07 PM
glad to here Will is doing well - excellent show, as always - I agree with your comments on the space flights, I can understand the intrigue with space flight but ...
I am looking more into little geeks, the school system demands that the students, even little "geeks" use the internet and software on computers for research. It is sad that there are so many that are unable to tap into this resource - lets take it one step further and give them free internet!
Amber, you and Rahaf work excellent together. Nothing against Will - he does well - perhaps the three of you? Would that be "a money in the middle"?
Posted by: Jeffrey Cove | June 18, 2008 at 07:41 AM
a correction - hear not here & monkey NOT money.
Will - sorry, you are the monkey.

Hi Jeffrey,
One of the things we love about commandN is that we get to co-host with all of our friends, so it's not out of question that the three of us could tackle the show together one of these days...with Jeff doing tech duty on the East Coast! :)

Hey,

Oh no, please don't put me between two lovely geek girls ever week! Twist my rubber arm ;)
Posted by: Will Pate | June 18, 2008 at 12:11 PM
So maybe Jefferey's original comment was right Will, you'd totally be "in the money."
LOL.
Girl Geeks Rule!
Posted by: Rahaf | June 18, 2008 at 02:33 PM
@Will, you do know that most men would pay actual money to be "in the money" between Amber and Rahaf?
Maybe commandN could auction of a chance to be "in the money" to raise money for LittleGeeks.org, but with Amber and Will or Andy Walker, just an idea

Hi,
I was just wondering if the delay between the posting on the website and the update of the RSS feed is intentional or is it a technical problem?

Leaked Rogers iPhone rates...?

Posted by: Tim | June 19, 2008 at 02:36 PM
Hi guys,
My question might be the same as the previous fella's, but I've been downloading the show -- which I love -- using the XBox feed, but it contains nothing after episode 133. Should I give up, wait, or throw myself off the nearest bridge cause I'll never be able to watch on my TV again?
Posted by: Frank | June 20, 2008 at 01:16 AM
The feeds are being updated now. As for the XBOX feed - it takes a lot longer to get the WMV files exported and are usually a few weeks behind.
All should be up-to-date today.

So from the looks of those leaked Rogers iPhone rates, see Tim's comment above, it will cost about $115 a month for a voiceplan plus Enterprise Data Plan (Unlimited Data with personal and corporate e-mail, web, includes Visual Voicemail when subscribed to any voicemail service. If signing to a 3 year contract) That's about £60UK a month plus another £100 to buy the 8GB iPhone in the first place, WOW you Canadians really do get riped off by Rogers.
For £45 a month the UK gets a FREE 8GB iPhone, unlimited data, 600minutes plus 500 texts
http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone/paymonthly
But then your Canadians do get AmberMac, so I guess it all balances out in the long run.
@Amber, That should be good news for you, as you should be able to save you a couple of hundred dollars a month on your $300+ a month mobile bill. Which is probably just enough money to cover the increase airfares you will have to start paying soon due to the increasing fuel costs for airlines.

I have to disagree with your comments on space travel. While there could be better uses for $5M, it can still come from other people. Space technology is not cheap. The only way the private sector will be able to really push it is from these extremely wealthy "passengers." But why? It will hopefully spur development of technology. Who knows what can come from it.
Posted by: Linh | June 20, 2008 at 06:10 PM
If somebody goes to Mexico, then (at least some of) the money spent on the trip goes to Mexico. But when somebody goes to space, does any of that money go into space??
No.
The money stays here on earth, where it will certainly go into developing more such technology (such as by paying those who do that development). What's wrong with that?
Some people have said that going into cyberspace is silly, and we've heard people making the same complaints about space travel for decades. But money spent on each helps to develop that technology.
That being said, since this is the first time I've posted here, I really like the show and have recommended it to more than a few people.

Good show except for the copyright story...
First of all, the government is not releasing an ammendment to the Digital Millenium Copywright Act (DMCA). It is a proposed bill to ammend the (Canadian) Copyright Act, called, strangely enough, Copyright Act (http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/C-42/index.html). The DMCA is a USA law and not Canadian. The ammendment will make the Canadian Copyright Act DMCA-like, DMCA-esc, DMCA-ish, etc. I would think that some one who is "I am a Toronto-based strategist specializing in New Media and Innovation. I offer several services including New Media Strategy & Consulting, Book Research and Writing Support and Project Management." (quote from her website) would be up to speed with copyright issues as they will have an impact on the digital life that we all enjoy.
Rahaf, please be sure of your facts and details before you report on such an important Canadian story.

The Circuit - Mojo HD
meh.
Maybe it's just not my style of comedy. I watched a couple of episodes and didn't have anything stick with me where as a show like the IT Crowd leaves me laughing and with tons of one liners like "Don't type Google into Google it will break the internet" but I guess it is a different style where this is more like the Daily Show.
