I'm so bummed that the geek photo contest winner wasn't announced this show as planned. I was freaking out all week hoping to get my hands on that a new 19" baby. I guess one more week won't kill me. I'm suprised Picasa web albums hasn't been on a previous episode, it's yet another great service provided by Google.

Yeah, we had so many great entries that we wanted to make sure that we spent enough time choosing the winners - not an easy decision, btw, so congrats to all of you!

Great show guys! I especially enjoy when your show features ideas, sites, resources that cater to both my tech AND Entrepreneurial cravings.
I especially like the logo mockups and the moleskin branding ideas. I see a "biz idea" heeeere..!
And Jeff, GMail is the bomb. I use the feature you mentioned for all of my e-mail addresses. I think currently I have over 25 e-mail addresses. Yeah, I know... ridiculous, but thanks to Google, no problemo.
Brian... how about a segment(or mini-series) on creating a video podcast? From the equipment to the shooting maybe?
Take Care all!

Sorry for double posting in the comments, but I wanted to second the idea that Sammy posted above. I'm thinking about getting into video podcasts soon and it would be in interesting perspective to see what equipment you use. I remember a previous episode (I believe episode 3, which is no longer downloadable BTW) where you covered your editing suite, but I don't recall any camera/lighting/tripod/sound info. I'm a Film and TV major and I'm very interested to hear about the equipment. Any hardware tips would be much appreciated.

In the words of Jay Leno:
"A Bikini that tells you if your getting too much sun? That''s great, but we need a bikini that tells you if your too fat to wear this bikini!"
Sorry, couldn't help myself :P.

Brian would do an awesome job of this, so we'll chat with him when he gets back from his Floridian vacation ;-). Check out this week's blooper to see what Brian is doing on the beach!

I checked out that Snow Patrol video. I like their music.
I also liked 'Crazy' by Gnarles Barkley and 'The Postal Service' which you mentioned in ealier shows.
Any other music recommendations Amber?

Another smash.
@Jeff thanks for taking us through gmail. I saw it too, but didn't have time to go through. Now I don't have to run around to check my 7 or 8 email accounts. I have to check podzinger for the spam filter you did. I'm quite sure you did.
@Sam 25 email accounts? Do you need a tech-psyche, too? My addictions are bad.
@Amb & Mikey, love those shirts! Mikey wear more vertical stripes. Lookin' good.
@Ringer, thanks for filling in for Brian.
@Bri & The Mrs., enjoy and careful of the rays.
excuse me i have some links to check.
ciao!

It looked like Brian was editing CommandN on the new MacBook? Am I correct? If so, I didnt think you could run Final Cut on a MacBook, or does Brian use iMovie?

Amber, I always wait to check out the bloopers. I particularly enjoyed this one. I thought he was on vacation..? Who can blame him when you're doing something you enjoy? I'm guilty, as well.
Jes, I actually use about 3-4 of them on a routine basis. The others were my dumb idea of looking "bigger" than I really am on a few previous projects of mine... you know... support@, admin@, advertise@... blah blah blah. Now I use them when I want to test one of the bazillion betas sites coming out.

That "Grey's Anatomy"/Snow Patrol vid was on abc.com for a couple of weeks, but they've since taken it down. I must admit I'm a huge "Grey's" fan as well; this girl I like sort of indirectly influenced my interest in it.

Steve,
I was using my 12' Powerbook w/ Final Cut Pro. The Universal version of Final Cut Studio is available, and you can upgrade to it for $49 if you have the original Final Cut Studio DVD's. More info on the upgrade can be found here:

Thanks for the plug! Actually, I thought the CBC back-bacon pic from Flickr was even better than the moleskine!

Rats..commented on the wrong post. This is the right post..
Hahaha, like the way Amber goes "let's go watch Hilary Duff" with the most subtlest of subtlest hints of sarcasm there. Priceless! Or it might just be me. Another great show guys ! thanks for bringing the gmail thing to light Jeff, much appreciated !

Awesome episode, don't worry Mike we still think you're the man.

So they mentioned the CommandN geek photo contest on Rocketboom today. Cool.

Oh, I guess it was actually yesterday (Aug 3rd). Time -shifted content strikes again.

Great stuff again guys... One thing to note about the Gmail tip is on *some* mail programs - such as Outlook - your Gmail address will be shown if you reply from Gmail - even w/ the 'Sent' address set up as a non-Gmail address. For example, an Outlook user who receives an email you sent from your Gmail account will see the 'from' as 'gmailaddress@gmail.com on behalf of Jeff [jeff@domainemail.com]'... Pretty sure most programs will not display it this way (they will just show the domain address like you want) but some like Outlook do, which is really too bad.
Posted by: Freddie | August 05, 2006 at 10:59 AM
That's pretty crap about Outlook.
I don't get why Microsoft products always seem to be the ones with these little "idiosyncrasies". Is it really too much to ask for them to follow some simple standards that the rest of the world seems to adhere to just fine?
Anyway - thanks for the note, Freddie!

I've just found out that Thunderbird has the same problem :-( . I'll be sure to mention this in next week's episode. If anyone else has any comments on it then post away - I'll be sure to include anything relevant in my segment. Too bad about this "bug", though.
Thanks for keeping me honest ;-) ,
Jeff
